Children at All Angels

Nursery

The Nursery

Far before a child can pronounce the word 'God', the concepts of authority, justice, and love will be clear to his little understanding. Before she can say 'Jesus', she will have an idea of who he is. The nursery is a place where young children can learn simple truths; a place permeated with the fragrance of Jesus Christ.

The nursery is staffed by trained volunteers and serves children from 6 months to 2 years of age. Our nursery volunteers are more than babysitters, and we aim to make the nursery more than a babysitting service. It is a vital ministry of our church; serving the littlest members and their families.

Alongside excellent childcare, our nursery offers children opportunities to develop their creative abilities through art activities, time for free play with toys that aid in cognitive development, and spiritual nurture through short age-appropriate Bible lessons.

Finally, our nursery space is dedicated space only used as our nursery on Sundays. Only nursery staff, parents of nursery children, and the children themselves are allowed in the nursery. Our nursery staff is trained in preventing child sexual abuse, and our check-in/check-out procedures assure that your child will be safe in our care.

If you are a parent of a child under 3 years old, we look forward to meeting you soon. Please drop in and make use of this resource available to you. Then, enjoy worshiping at All Angels' Church!

Childrens Worship

How do you view the liturgy? Boring? Repetitive? Mysterious? Seeing the liturgy as a 'Divine Drama', we participate in God's story of redemption every Sunday. Each aspect of the liturgy tells a part of the story; each scene illustrating the gospel. Children's worship prepares kids to worship together with their families by exposing them to the beauty and meaning of the liturgy and thus, the gospel.

We value families worshiping together, and work towards the goal of entire families being present together during the entire worship service. Realizing that this is just not possible for all young children, children ages 3 through 4th grade are dismissed to the gym during the sermon for a time of children's worship. This way, the children spend most of the worship time with their families, but also have an opportunity to stretch their legs and participate in a lesson just for them.

Our Children's Worship curriculum is called 'Dramaturgy'. It is a series of lessons designed to teach children the beauty of the gospel through the liturgy we use. This way, children learn the why's of our worship style. More importantly, they learn the gospel- the story of God's rescue plan, and how this story is told through the liturgy.

If your child is between age 3 and 4th grade, we hope to see them soon!.Who knows, maybe they'll even teach you something new about the liturgy!

Sunday School

In the moments following the fall, God began to whisper hints of a plan to rescue us and restore his creation. Throughout the Old Testament, we hear it. Jesus, the name whispered throughout the scriptures. His work and message are the message of the New Testament. God, through Christ, is reconciling all things to himself. This is what Sunday School is all about.

Elementary age children participate in three classes grouped by age in the 4th floor gym every Sunday at 11:45 during the school year. Our Sunday school curriculum takes students through the Bible in 4 years of stories that make up God's Story. While the individual stories such as Noah's Ark, David and Goliath, and the Feeding of the 5,000 are taught, God's Story focuses on the big story arc of the Bible: God's plan to redeem his wayward people through Jesus' death, burial and resurrection.

Besides great teaching and great fun with crafts and games, Sunday school is a time of building relationships and Christian community among peers. Though families live scattered throughout the city, here is a time when children can meet with other children their age and learn about God together. When these students pass on to middle school, they have established Biblical literacy and a Christian peer group to help them through the years ahead.
